Bolton Wanderers v Blackpool

Last Saturday, May 4th, was the last day of the Championship football season and the final opportunity to photograph Wanderers fans outside the Reebok stadium. The weather proved to be a challenge. It was very windy and cloudy with sporadic bursts of sunshine – a bit like Wanderers’ season some might say! Again, with patience and enthusiasm from many fans Peter and I managed to capture some more great portraits. I’ve really enjoyed my time spent at the Reebok during the last few weeks, I’m going to miss it. It’s been a pleasure meeting dedicated fans, taking their portraits and listening to their stories. I’ll miss the pre-match atmosphere – the energy, excitement and sense of anticipation in the air is electrifying. The buzz was much more intense last Saturday partly because it was the last game of the season, but mostly because Bolton had a chance to secure their place in the play-offs. Unfortunately, Bolton’s 2-2 draw with Blackpool saw them finish in only 7th place. Hopes of promotion are put on hold until next season. I am genuinely gutted for all Wanderers fans, particularly the ones I had the pleasure to meet.

Thank you to all those that agreed to have their picture taken, and thank you again to Daniel Houlker and Peter Richardson.
